The soil and climate in the Champlain Islands are unique for apple production, yielding apples with superior flavor. Our South Hero land has been producing apples for over 100 years. It has been owned by the Hackett family since 1967. Three generations of family now help with the many year-round chores.
Today The fine Vermont products at Hackett's Orchard are produced on land conserved through the South Hero and Vermont Land Trusts. Our 50 acre farm enjoys visits from people around the country as well as island residents. In the fall, school children and small groups take advantage of our orchard tours and wagon rides.
